EVGA e-GeForce 8800GT AKIMBO 1GB Video Card Review Bundle

  • Two DVI to D-Sub adapters
  • 6-pin power cable
  • TV-Out cable
  • HDTV Cable
  • Driver CD

EVGA chose the minimalist approach with their 8800GT AKIMBO 1GB bundle in terms of software. While a few companies include a game to go along with your new video card, EVGA decided not to in this case. Game bundles get old fast as the latest game quickly becomes tomorrow’s bargain game online or at stores. I prefer the manufacturer include a game as it does add value to the package.

Hardware wise the card comes with everything you need to run the card including two DVI-D-sub adapters. These allow the user to use the computer with analog CRT monitors instead of the Digital LCD monitors if they are not available. The 6-pin power connector is needed if the power supply doesn’t have a 6-pin power connector, just attach the Molex connectors and the 6-pin connection and you are good to go.

EVGA Support is second to none in the video card industry in many respects. They offer a Limited Lifetime Warranty on their products which allows the user to return the card within the card’s lifetime for defective warranty replacement. The second facet of their support is 24/7 Toll-Free Technical Support. Finally, EVGA offers the purchasers of their cards the Step-Up Program.

If you ever have bought a video card and wondered what to do if a newer card comes out right away and made your card obsolete, well, EVGA has the answer for you. Within 90 days of the original purchase date of the card, you can return one of their cards for full credit on the price paid originally and get a new card for the price difference. No other company offers anything remotely close to their Step-Up Program and it is unique in the industry.
