It seems as if the folks at Western Digital have been working late night in their R&D department as the new Velociraptor takes the Raptor series to the next level. The Raptor series of drives were already a hall of fame winning product and with new drives with basically twice as fast overall performance levels these new Velociraptors will take their rightful place alongside their predecessors. The new Velociraptor is also very quiet running; you can barely hear it when engaged, always a good thing. Games were accessed faster, files transferred quicker and Music ripped seamlessly.

The new 3.5 ICEPAK heatsink/ drive holder does a good job of keeping the little 2.5 bugger cool in an enclosure as well. With even further feature enhancements we will probably see small changes in future drives that will make them even more performance savvy. For Now Western Digital l has an excellent new product to be available to the power user. The Raptor has evolved into an even beastlier version and the new Raptor 2.0 Velocirator is here folks. There is nothing to complain about here other than the fact they don’t grow on trees, but if you want the fastest drive you can get your hands on, the Velocirator is the untouched winner in the SATA drive arena. An easy Editors Choice Product, good job WD, excellent next-gen tech here. Now we need another one for RAID testing, hello WD?
