Pricing on video cards seem to fluctuate with the passing of the wind. Today the 8800GS is $129.99 with a $30 rebate at Newegg.com making this a $99.99 card with a $50.00 game thrown in for good measure. The 8800GS at an effective price of $50 is an excellent buy by any person’s terms, as it has nearly the performance and features of the newer cards but at a much lower price.
As such, I have no issue giving this card my highest recommendation for a $100 video card with Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare an excellent bonus. If you want a card to play the latest DirectX 10 games with perhaps the resolution lowered and features lowered compared to the 9800 or 9600GT series this is it and an excellent choice for the consumer wanting an inexpensive card. Excellent job XFX you get a solid thumbs up from this end , not quite an Editors Choice product, but a real value to those wanting decent performance and a price that is very affordable to any budget.
