Out of the box you get all you need to get started( what else would you expect?) the mouse come with replaceable grips that allow you basically change the shape of the mouse, from a wider more relaxed grip to a tight precision grip. There are addition grips that can be purchased as well. This combined with the adjustable weights allows you to truly customize your mouse to your liking.

The box of course includes the signature tin of weights, unlike the G5 these weights are rectangular, similar to the ones used by Microsoft’s sidewinder mouse. Unlike Microsoft however you get eight weights instead of the four Microsoft gives you. The weights come in two flavors, four grams and seven grams the mouse itself holds a total of four weights giving a maximum of twenty-eight grams, this in contrast to Microsoft’s who’s four weights give you a total possible configuration of 30 grams. It’s kind of interesting how that works because while the sidewinder come with fewer total weights and holds 1 less weight in the mouse, because of the configuration they can actually provide more overall weight.

The mouse itself also has some pretty cool features. For instance the G9 mouse has an onboard memory system that stores button configurations. So if you have your buttons mapped a certain way for different games you can easily call up these profiles on the mouse itself. This also means that if you take your mouse to another computer you do not have to re-configure your buttons as the mouse has the setting saved. The optics on this mouse are also unique in that it offers up to 3200Dpi of resolution as well as adjusting the USB reporting time up to 1000 reports per second. What does it all that mean for you? It basically comes down to a mouse that is so precise you could probably perform open heart surgery with it.

Durability is another thing this mouse touts. With buttons that are rated to last up to 8 million clicks, and the Polytetrafluoroethylene, (say that five times real fast) feet are good for 250 kilometers of movement, it’s hard to imagine actually moving your mouse around on a standard mouse pad 250 kilometers. Not to mention that 8 million clicks is just insane.
