Since the 8800GT played games excellently you know the new 8800GTS 512MB Edition will only play them a bit faster and have the ability to handle the setting turned up to maximum without a noticeable performance hit. If you are a hard-core PC gamer and are looking for a card that can handle anything out there in game land and value visual clarity over speed, this is a card to seriously consider. The cards higher Stream processors allow for more multiple samplings and this equated to being able to handle higher number algorithms, hence better performance with features set at their highest values.
Crysis plays better on this card by quite a bit as the jerkiness seen very evidently with the 8800GT 256MB card is not apparent with the new GTS 512 jobber. Quake Wars plays excellent as well and looks great as does COD4, in fact COD4 is the best looking released game I have seen. Personally the whole FPS thing has me almost bored as let’s face it beyond a few graphic interchanges and scenery modifications many FSP games are the same game just refaced. Games that involve strategy have almost suffered the same fate, but at least with strategy games online play can still find fresh avenues of fun. Command and Conquer Tiberium Wars is a game that has exhausted many hours of my time and my 28’’ monitor gets used mainly for this game. I saw very noticeable improvements playing this game at 1920X1200 with the setting maxed out. Even though we did not test at this resolution I can tell you there was a substantial visual and performance gain over the 8800GT with the GTS 512.
