We currently are still using the FX62 AMD based system as our VGA testing platform. I know many people will wonder why we are not using the Intel Quad-Core CPU and the reason is we are waiting to change platforms with the release of Intel's Penryn CPUs. At that point will switch over to a Quad-Core solution and begin a new benchmark and test platform. I believe that we still are the only site that maintains the equilibrium of balanced testing to this date as other sites just review with the parts they have on hand. Our mission was to test on the same platform for six months to get a true performance ratio comparison. This has worked out well and we are now working on a VGA version of our MOBOT feature here on the site for our users.

All of our tests are run three times and then balanced for a more realistic score as there are slight variances when testing multiple times. All the performance scores shown are based of tests run in the Windows XP environment. We did test the card thoroughly in Vista, but that was real world and actual hands on gaming in lieu of the standard tests usually given. This is not a strange thing to encounter on review sites as currently most of the tests we use are not viable or workable in Vista. This will change in the months ahead and as Microsoft fixes their errors in code and NVIDIA makes better drivers, at that point we will switch to Vista as a test platform. This card was a breeze to install and get going. Just remove your old drivers and then remove the old card before installation of the card and all will be well. Then just install the drivers as prompted and after a restart you will be up and running. Overall I have no issues with installation or functioning of the 8600GTS, it was up to par in all respects.
