The 4800+ is an interesting CPU. Energy efficiency is more and more important as the Green initiative makes computer manufacturers work on lowering power requirements and the 4800+ does this as advertised. The 4800+ consumes 30W less than the 5000+ under load, making it a good choice for the energy-minded in all of us. The performance is just a little below that of the 5000+ as it should be. The pricing on the AMD Athlon 64 4800+ X2 CPU is around $217 per lots of thousands purchased, making the CPU a good fit for those wanting mid-range processor pricing already owning a AM2 motherboard. Where the comparison falls short, however is when comparing performance/price ratio versus the E6700 from Intel, as that CPU offers similar performance at a lower price.
