GIGABYTE 7600GS HDMI GV-NX76G256HI-RH Video Card Review :: GIGABYTE GV-NX76G256HI-RH Bundle
The hardware bundle on the GIGABYTE 7600GS card is geared towards the HDMI port. Notice, the inclusion of a HDMI cable that attaches to the HDMI port on the HDTV or HDMI monitor, the HDMI to DVI adapter, which allows you to attach the video card to a DVI equipped monitor and a SPDIF audio cable to get audio from the video card. The HDTV to component adapter attaches to your HDTV or television set rounding out the hardware bundle. Most inexpensive video cards on the market come with limited game demos if any game is included at all. One of the first games I played as a youngster on the computer was Civilization on a 286-12 with 1MB of RAM and a 20MB HDD way back when. Civilization was released in 1991 to a lot of fanfare and is still regarded as one of the best computer games of all time. GIGABYTE decided to include the latest iteration of the series Civilization IV. While Civ IV isn't the greatest game in the world it is still a nice addition to an already impressive bundle. NVIDIA has released Microsoft Vista drivers for all of their video cards except for SLI configurations. The 97.46 drivers from NVIDIA on their website are WHQL for the 7xxx series and prior cards. If you have an 8800GTX or GTS be aware that NVIDIA only has Beta drivers 100.54 available on their website. Support for SLI is also missing from the current Vista drivers which are rather disappointing as ATI has already released their drivers for Crossfire on their cards. We will move to Vista on our test platforms sometime in the future and since it was released yesterday, I thought I'd give an update on what Vista has to offer NVIDIA cards. NVIDIA's Control Panel was changed with the release of the 7xxx series to work with Windows Vista. I prefer the old Control Panel, but to each his or her own. The important features to the gamer are in the Adjust 3D settings with Preview submenu. Here you get a visual representation of what changes to an image are when you change a setting. Manage 3D Settings is where the individual settings are changed. GIGABYTE offers a 3-year limited warranty with their GV-NX76G256HI-RH card, as well as their other cards. Some manufacturers like EVGA, BFG and XFX have started to offer Lifetime Warranties, but three years is longer than I've ever owned a video card in my main system, with the exception of a S3 Virge GX that I just never got rid of. In any event, GIGABYTE offers a FAQ and email support for their products. I prefer a company to offer telephone support as well, but phone support is iffy at best by most Taiwanese manufacturers.
