The first expectation due to the clock and memory speeds of the GIGABYTE 7900GS is that the performance in games should about equal the 7900GT, a card that retails online for about $100 more than the 7900GS. With the launch of the 8800GTX and 8800GTS, prices will change bringing the 79xx series in line with the changing market.

Xpand Rally is the game included with the GeForce 7900GS TurboForce card as part of its bundled software. The game features a series of upgradeable cars that race through the terrain of an off-road course. Terrain is deformable, cars are destructible, and the game makes liberal use of Pixel and Vertex Shader 2.0 technology, making it a good showcase for the new 7900GS card. The GIGABYTE 7900GS TurboForce played this game extremely well with framerates in the 60s at 1280x1024.

The latest game available on the Steam network is Dark Messiah Might and Magic. This RPG is the latest game in the M+M series dating back to the earliest DOS days. The Valve Source engine and the Havok Physics engine is used to bring the game to life. You can purchase the game from www.steampowered.com for $49.95 today. The game plays well on the 7900GS TurboForce from GIGABYTE, with 1280x1024 fully playable throughout the first four levels.

Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is the latest game in the Elder Scrolls series from Bethsheda. You take the role of a fighter, a mage a thief or a vampire in the quest to save Gandriel from the Oblivion Gates that open throughout the land. Oblivion is one of those games that scream next generation gaming, but in truth is only using Pixel Shader 2 programs throughout and HDR rendering. The game played well on the 7900GS from GIGABYTE, with a framerate above 35 fps in towns and above 20 fps outside towns, at 1600x1200 resolution with HDR enabled. Only the GeForce 8800GTX and GTS and ATI X1K series can run the game with HDR+FSAA on at the same time.
