GIGABYTE 7900GS TurboForce GV-NX79G256DP-RH Review :: GIGABYTE 7900GS TurboForce Bundle
GIGABYTE has taken to including games with their new video cards and that's always a good thing in my opinion. I'm an old-school purchaser of video cards that loves it when a new game comes with the card to show off the card's capabilities. The 7900GS TurboForce comes with Xpand Rally, a racing game. It's a bit outdated today, but it is a lot of fun. The hardware side of the bundle consists of a dongle for the TV-Out port on the card, with jacks for the S-Video Out, Y, Pr, Prb/AV cables present. The drivers CD contain the 91.47 Forceware drivers and GIGABYTE's VTune 3. GIGABYTE also includes a copy of the latest Cyberlink PowerDVD, version 6 on the drivers CD. Using the Coolbits registry hack I was able to stably overclock the card to 569MHz/ The standard GeForce 7900GS is clocked at a respectable 450MHz. The GIGABYTE card is clocked at an aggressive 525MHz for the core, a full 75MHz increase over the reference clocked 7900GS. When combined with the added memory bandwidth offered by the card, the GIGABYTE 7900GS TurboForce should come close to or exceed 7900GT performance in our tests, as we'll see. NVIDIA has revamped their Control Panel with the 9x.xx series drivers. The new Control Panel splits the drivers into applets for 3D image settings with preview, where there are several presets and a advanced menu to change the individual settings like AA and AF, Set SLI configuration, where you enable SLI with 2 7900GS cards, and monitor settings.
