The first thing I thought when opening the package was "what is different between this card and the GeForce 7600GT or GTS? The PCB is exactly the same in layout and capacitors as the 7600GT, and in fact the layout is similar to that of the 7900GT from EVGA. There is a 17-fin cooling fan covering the GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) and the heat sink that covers that is small, barely covering parts of the memory chips.

The rear of the card is bare of memory chips, but has the Serial number sticker. This sticker is important when you want to register your card for Warranty extension, as registration adds an additional year to the standard year Warranty on EVGA TX cards. Also on the rear of the card are two holding pins for the cooling heatsink. One thing to note about the 7600GTS is that it has an SLI connector, though there is a sticker saying for future use; use the NVIDIA Software Control Panel.

EVGA installed 4 64MB GDDR3 memory chips on the board meaning there's 256MB of memory on the 7600GTS. The 7600GS carries DDR2 memory, while the 7600GT carries DDR3 memory. All 7600 cards have a 128-bit memory interface. The 7600GS carries memory that is rated for 1.4ns, giving a maximum theoretical memory speed of 1.4GHz and a memory bandwidth of 22.4 GB a second theoretical. This is the same amount of memory bandwidth as was found on the ATI 9700 Pro back in 2002 when it was released.

Digital LCD monitors are the norm for computer users these days, with LCD monitors ranging in price from $100 and higher. If you're buying a package online, its likely to come with a LCD monitor than a CRT, even the lower priced computers are coming with them. The EVGA 7600GTS has a DVI-I port for the LCD and a D-Sub port for a CRT. This is a decent combination, as people spending money upgrading their computer may not need two DVI-I ports at this price range.
