ATI TV Wonder 650 TV Tuner Review :: Conclusion

ATI launched the TV Wonder 650 a month ago and almost immediately recalled it due to a faulty transistor. The boxes on the market today are representative of the final product, as all products on shelves should be the fixed TV Wonder 650s. I'm glad ATI found the problem before the product had reached many end-users, as that would have cost a lot of money and a lot of hassle.

For a MSRP of $129, the TV Wonder 650 brings a lot of capabilities to the computer. These include free OTA HDTV (with an amplified antenna attached), cable television reception, a FM radio, a DVD Player, a Personal Video Recorder, and more. ATI is committed to releasing drivers for this product once Windows Vista launches next year. Despite the recall and the minor issue of the sound being jerky when other programs are being run, the TV Wonder 650 is an excellent value for the money. If you don't want the FM Radio or the HDTV functionality ATI has also released a TV Wonder 200 with the Theater 200 chip. This is fine for those wanting an inexpensive TV tuner.
