Looking at the performance of the 7900GS, it's clear that it is very nearly a 7800GT clone, with better memory bandwidth. In nearly every performance metric, the 7900GS outshines the 7800GT of last year by a small percentage. It should be interesting to see how ATI's X1900XT, and the rest of ATI's lineup fits into the performance metric, as it was a $399 video card being lowered to the $299 price range. At the moment ATI has nothing to compete with the 7900GS at $199.
