NVIDIA is also launching the 7950GT today, with a release to retail in about a week's time. The features of the 7950GT are similar in most pertinent respects to the 7900GTX with a couple of key differences. 24 Pixel Shader Pipelines, 8 Vertex Shader Pipelines, 16 ROPs. The reference Core Clock speed is around 550MHz, which is clocked 100MHz higher than the 7900GT and 50MHz lower than the 7900GTX. The reference memory clock will be 1.4GHz, giving a maximum theoretical memory bandwidth of 44.8GB/second.

XFX has announced two models of the 7950GT cards that will be available on the 14th, the FX and the XT. The FX card will be clocked the same as NVIDIA's reference board at 550MHz core/1.4GHz memory. The XT version will have a core clock of 570MHz for the core and 1.46GHz for the memory. It will be interesting to see how XFX's cards will fare. NVIDIA and ATI have targeted simultaneous launch and previews with all of their recent cards. The release of the 7950GT on the 14th should be considered as good as a simultaneous launch and we should have a review of the card from XFX once they hit retail. NVIDIA decided to put the targeted retail price of this board at $299, and it should be interesting to compare it to the ATI X1900XT.
