The first game I put through the paces on the 7600GS was Oblivion. Oblivion is the latest RPG from Bethsheda Softworks. It makes extensive use of Pixel and Vertex Shaders throughout the game. The game also makes liberal use of HDR throughout the game. In fact I would consider Oblivion to use HDR too much. The 7600GS was able to play Oblivion without problems on Quality mode at 1024x768 resolutions with HDR on. Playing it at 1280x1024 was ok, but 1024x768 was totally smooth.
Ghost Recon is a game based upon Tom Clancy's "Ryanoverse", where the star of the series is Jack Ryan Sr and Jr and related characters. Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter is the latest game in the franchise that has included Ghost Recon, Ghost Recon: Desert Siege, Ghost Recon Island Thunder and more. The 7600GS plays the game well, with 1280x1024 virtually playable. Quake4 is the latest first person shooter from ID Software, the makers of Quake and Doom. The sequel to Quake 2, Quake 4 is a good OpenGL barometer of performance. The 7600GS 512MB plays Quake 4 with little trouble at 1024x768 with no AA and no AF. Raising the resolution to 1280x1024 was still playable, but a bit less so.
