The slight boost in voltage requirements here caused a strange change - more efficient voltage regulation was met with heightened power consumption by the APFC unit. One thing of note at this point though, is that the non-APFC model was getting rather toasty by this point, while the larger fan and all aluminum casing of the APFC model kept it nice and cool.
