One game I want to concentrate on in this review is Oblivion. The game uses a lot of Pixel Shader and Vertex Shader programs and requires a lot of video card to run at the maximum settings with HDR. The X1900XTX is the only architecture available with the ability to do HDR with MSAA at the same time. Oblivion's video launcher did not allow HDR+AA at the same time. The game played wonderfully, with frame rates hovering around 70 fps throughout the game at a resolution of 1600x1200 with maximum settings and HDR in the outdoors area according to FRAPs.
First Encounter Assault Recon was the best looking game of 2005, only being overtaken in the visual department by Oblivion in my opinon. It's a first person shooter (FPS) with horror elements. The game played wonderfully on the X1900XTX, with 1600X1200 4x AA 16X playable in my experience. I played the first 5 missions without problems at those settings, more than satisfying my needs. Star Wars Empire at War is one of my favorite games at the moment. A multi-faceted RTS (Real Time Strategy) game with no peer, the game has epic space battles, huge ground battles, and a "Galactic Conquest" mode that can task even the most strategic thinkers playing on hard mode. The game played totally without pause or issue all the way through, even with 40 units and laser fire in Cinema mode.
