The 6600 256MB XXX Edition card is targeted at the mainstream/value market with a price range of $120. At this price, the card should not be compared to the X1900XTX or 7800GTX 512MB, but to other cards in the same price range. Some manufacturers would have you believe that a $10-15 difference in price is a different price class of video card. I don't subscribe to that theory and would hope the reader of my reviews feels the same way. The first game I fired up on the 6600 was a racing game, MotoGP2 released a few years back for the computer. The game uses Pixel and Vertex Shader 2.0 effects in the rain on the windshield, on the ground, in the sky and other places. The 6600 card was able to play the game at maximum resolution without AA and AF comfortably. That's what I expected. Turning up the AA and AF caused some small slowdowns. F.E.A.R. is one of the most graphically demanding games around, with the ability to bring the highest end system of a couple of years ago to its knees. The 6600 256MB is not well suited for this game, as it requires a lot of power to play well. The game was barely playable at 1024x768 with no AA and no AF. King Kong the Movie game was released by Ubisoft late last year around the the same time as the movie. You take the role of Jack Black or King Kong through the various scenes of the movie and more. The graphics in the game are exemplary, with Pixel Shaders used throughout the game. The 6600 played the game with little slowdown throughout. The game is a lot of fun and if you've ever wanted to play the big ape this is your chance. Game screenshotsContents:
