With a default core clock of 700MHz, and a memory clock of 1.6GHz. The ASUS EAX X1800XT TOP card is certainly among the best of the X1800XT crop. ASUS has done a wonderful job with a difficult situation. Add to the clock speeds the game and hardware bundle and the ASUS X1800XT is a Hot Product award. It ran every game I threw at it without problem up to the maximum resolution and settings that my monitor can display.
Of course with ATI releasing the replacement for the X1800XT the question becomes whether purchasing a X1800XT from ASUS would be practical. It's clear that the X1800XT is either EOL or near the EOL.ASUS has announced their version of the X1900XT card. This card should give a 20-30% performance increase over the default X1800XT.
Some may question the need for an external power supply on a video card today. I remember the first VGA card that was supposed to require such a device for gaming, the Voodoo 5 6000. The X1800XT card from ASUS is bulkier than most video cards available as well, but still is easily installed in your case if you have the room for it. At the end of the day the ASUS EAX X1800XT TOP card is a good card that can hold its own in today's ever changing market, and although the X1900 series has arrived, the TOP X1800XT still rocks in the gaming world.
