It has been a long time since I played Star Wars Rebellion on the computer. Lucas Arts has announced the spiritual if not actual successor to the game Star Wars: Empires at War due to be released in February of 2006. In this game you build structures, ships, and starbases to attack enemy fleets, starbases and planets. I've been playing a lot of the single player demo. The X1600XT played the demo without issue. As the game is a RTS (Real Time Strategy) with mostly simplistic graphics, the card performed as expected.
The next game I tried on the X1600XT is F.E.A.R. (First Encounter Assault Recon). This is one of the more demanding games and uses Pixel and Vertex Shaders throughout the game. F.E.A.R. is about the scariest game I ever played, with the opening level where you meet the little girl and the main enemy, made me jump right out of my seat. The X1600XT shines in this game. I was able to play the game at 1024x768 4x AA 16x AF with only minimal slowdowns and comfortable throughout.
The third game I put on the X1600XT is the Need For Speed Most Wanted game from Electronic Arts. This game uses Pixel Shaders in the car model paint, in the water and more. The X1600XT plays the game without issue up to and including 1280x1024 32-bit color no AA no AF. One thing I like about the game is the car models; the vegetation seems to be a bit flat, with trees and such looking like a cardboard tree.
