NVIDIA designs, develops, and markets video card chipsets, motherboard chipsets, and other display related technologies. Today, NVIDIA has revenues of over 2 Billion a year, and over 2100 employees, a far cry from the NVIDIA of 2000 who had 392 employees and revenue in the hundreds of millions. My first NVIDIA based video card was the Creative Annihilator Pro GEFORCE 256 64MB video card from 1999.

NVIDIA announced their NV40 in April of 2004. A year and a half is a long time in the computer world, and NVIDIA has released a slew of chipsets based upon that architecture since then including the 6800 Ultra, 6800GT, 6800, 6600GT, 6600, 6200, 6200 with Turbo Cache and more. June 22nd saw the launch of the next generation NVIDIA video chipset, the G70, replacing the 6800 Ultra in the lineup.

ASUS manufactures video cards, motherboards, mini systems and other computer related components. ASUS manufactures video cards based upon chipsets from both NVIDIA and ATI, with many cards listed on their site. When NVIDIA launched their 7800GTX, ASUS released a standard version with reference clock speeds and a TOP version with higher clock speeds. In August NVIDIA announced the 7800GT and Im reviewing the ASUS version of that card today and it looks promising.
