ATI All-In-Wonder X800XL PCIx Video Card Review :: The Bundle
ATI generally includes comprehensive bundles with their A-I-W video cards, and the A-I-W X800XL is no exception. Hardware-wise, the X800XL comes with two stackable cables, AV-In and an AV-Out cable. The Audio input cable is for connecting a VCR or camcorder. The AV output cable is used to connect a TV, camcorder or VCR. The output cable is also where you would connect the HDTV to the A-I-W X800XL. The S-Video cable is to connect your A-I-W card to your TV. Other hardware components include the Remote Wonder Plus and the Input Output connector. The input/out4put connector has a DB-15 connector to connect a second monitor to the A-I-W card and the connectors to the AV-In and Out cables. You can attach either a DVI-I monitor+ a CRT or two CRT monitors with a DVI-I to DB-15 adapter. ATI introduced the Remote Wonder Plus with their TV Wonder Elite card last year. The RW+ is similar to the Remote Wonder II, but is smaller and has easy to use buttons. The D-Pad acts like a mouse, I wouldn't replace my mouse with it however, as the D-Pad and mouse button positions aren't exactly optimally placed for games control. Software-wise, the A-I-W X800XL comes with Muvee AutoProducer, Pinnacle Studio 9, and Matchware Mediator 8. Matchware Mediator 8 is a program that allows you to easily make Flash, HTML and CD-ROM presentations. I was able to make a Flash website after a mere hour of using the program. It's intuitive and easy to use with a comprehensive tutorial included. ATI includes the Standard version, and you can buy the Pro version for $199, a 50% discount. Pinnacle Studio 9 is the latest version of Pinnacle's video editing and capture software. Combined with the A-I-W's TV tuning capabilities and other video capture capabilities, Studio 9 allows you to use your new video card to capture video, edit it and make cool professional looking movies. Pinnacle sells this software for $39.99 on their website. Contents:
