Setup of the card was a piece of cake. To be honest, installing a graphics card is one of the easiest upgrades in computers today. Every time I start a graphics card review I start with a fresh install of Windows XP with SP2. The GIGABYTE 7800GTX install went without issue. I inserted the card into a open PCI Express x16 slot on the Asus Intel SLI board and started the system. After installing Windows and the motherboard drivers, I installed the Forceware 77.72 drivers and was good to go.

NVIDIA drivers are intuitive and easy to use. There is a small NVIDIA symbol in the taskbar next to the clock in Windows from where you can change your driver settings. Screen Adjustment allows you to change the position of the screen on the monitor. SLI Mode allows you to enable SLI on the motherboard if two video cards are installed on the system.

The Performance and Quality Mode setting allows you to change AntiAliasing, Anistropic Filtering, Image Settings, Color Profile, Vertical Sync, Force Mipmaps, Conformant texture clamp, Extension Limit, Hardware acceleration, Trilinear optimization, Anisotropic mip filter optimization, Anisotropic sample optimization, Gamma Correct AntiAliasing, Transparency AntiAliasing, and Negative LOD bias.

GIGABYTE really went all out on the bundle of the card. Many cards come with no games to play. My first 3D video card was a Voodoo3D card from Diamond Multimedia back in 1996. That card came with 20 games and game demos. I like game bundles, as it gives you something to do with your shiny new video card. Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising is much in the vein of Battlefield 1942. Xpand Rally is a racing game. The graphics on the cars and scenery is exciting. Power DVD 6 is the latest version of the Power DVD software DVD player. Power Director is a cool video editing and capture program.
