XFX 7800GTX SLI Video Card Review :: Bundle
One thing I have to take XFX to task on is the inclusion of trial versions of DVD software. They include 30-day trial versions of Power DVD, Power VCR and Power Director Pro VE. Personally, I feel that if you're going to include DVD playback and recording software in a bundle, include the full version of the software so a month down the road you can still use the software. Hardware-wise XFX went all out on the 7800GTX. The card comes with two DVI-I to D-sub adapters allowing for easy connection to two CRT monitors on the card. You can also connect one LCD with DVI and one CRT with D-sub, or two LCD monitors in dual-monitor mode. Two TV-Out cables are included as well. One thing XFX includes as a bonus is a black T-shirt with XFX's logo on the front. There are three models of 7800GTX offered from XFX today. The first one is this card which offers a game pad. Another SKU is a overclocked version with 490MHz core clock and 1.32GHz memory clock. The final version of the card available is the 7800GTX with Battlefield 2. In my opinion, a card that comes with a game is the best choice. However, oftentimes when you buy a card the game bundle gets old pretty fast, as the bundle doesn't change. The XGEAR gamepad is a wired USB game pad. To install the gamepad simply plug it into an open USB port, let Windows detect the USB Human Interface device and insert the driver mini-CD into an open CD drive. Once the drivers are installed, you can program the controller to use certain buttons for control. It is easy to use and very intuitive to those used to a Sidewinder game pad from Microsoft (loved their game pads but they don't make them anymore. I love the game pad, and since I already own Battlefield 2, think it's a worthy alternative to a $50 game. Discuss This Article
