The cooling on the ASUS 6800GT is similar in many respects to that found on NVIDIA's reference board. ASUS outfits the card with a 32-fin radial fan that illuminates with a blue color when it is in operation. Both of my personal computers have a windowed side. I like seeing lights run when the computer is running. The heat sink covers the majority of the rest of the front of the card. One thing about the 6800GT is that it is a one-slot solution, unlike that found on the 6800Ultra and X850XT PE cards.

Memory is arranged in a group of 8 memory chips on the front of the 6800GT covered by the heat sink/pipe assembly. The chips are 8 32MB 2ns memory chips. This gives the card a total of 32GB of theoretical memory bandwidth. The card has a core clock speed of 350MHz giving a maximum theoretical fill rate of 5.4 Gigapixels a second. This is compliant with the standard 6800GT.

One nice thing about the ASUS 6800GT is the inclusion of two DVI-I ports. This allows the user to use up to two LCD monitors with DVI ports at the same time. You can also use a LCD+CRT or two CRT monitors with the use of a second D-Sub to DVI-I adapters. Asus's card also includes a TV-Out port allowing you to play computer games on your big-screen television. The EN6800GT is a PCI Express X16 card. Don't try and put it in an AGP slot as it won't work.

  • D-Sub to DVI Connector X2
  • 6-pin PCI Express power connector
  • TV-Out cable
  • WebCam 640X480 resolution
  • Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising
  • AsusDVD
  • PowerDirector 3DE
  • Medi@Show SE 2.0
  • CD Case

The bundle on the Asus EN6800GT is excellent and well worthy of praise. Hardware wise you get two D-Sub to DVI adapters. As already mentioned this allows for the maximum flexibility when using two monitors. You also get a 6-pin PCI Express power connector, necessary to power the card. A unique addition to ASUS cards is the inclusion of a WebCam. The WebCam has a resolution of 640X480.You can use the WebCam with ASUS's Video Security Online application.

ASUS's GameFace Live is a gaming utility that allows you to chat with up to 8 other players in any DirectX game. Personally I use MIRC or ICQ to chat, but some people might like it. ASUS includes their own DVD player. Again personally, I use PowerDVD and am not that interested in propietary software. If you need DVD playback software, however, ASUSDVD is pretty cool. Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising is a Battlefield Vietnam type game. It's a pretty good addition to the bundle if you haven't bought it already.
