Corsair decided to send their flagship XMS PC2-5400 Pro for participation and it should be no surprise since it's their fastest memory and comes with the awesome looking LED lights. I have to be honest and say that the LEDs provide absolutely no performance difference at all. It is there for looks and looks only. The larger heatspreaders may help with cooling since it does have increased surface area, but we all already know that heatspreaders don't do much for memory cooling. The Corsair XMS PC2-5400 Pro is rated to run at 337MHz with latencies of 4-4-4-12. At the time of release, this was considered to be low latency memory for the speed that it runs. As always, Corsair is the leader in memory manufacturing. They've always been the first to announce new memory whenever available. They were the first to announce the Samsung TCCD and also the first to announce the screaming fast PC2-5400. Overclocking the Corsair PC2-5400 was a breeze. The memory performed flawlessly up to the maximum of 265FSB with a DDR533 divider, making the final memory frequency 354MHz. It ran without a hiccup. The memory does have more, but just how much more we won't know till I get a better motherboard. Running at 266MHz, the lowest latencies allowed were 3-3-2-6. Unfortunately when running at the rated speed of 337MHz, the latencies wouldn't budge. Any slight adjustment would cause the memory to error in Memtest. Running at the highest frequency only required 1.9v. Any higher and the memory would also error.
