DDR2 Memory Shootout

All the contenders today were exceptional. They all performed superbly well and are pretty much more than capable of pushing your system to the limits. My motherboard seemed to be the limiting factor here and I was unable to find any other motherboard that would allow me to overclock to or beyond 265FSB. Perhaps when I upgrade to a 925XE board I might be able to go further. Overall in the end, consumers like you and I will want something that provides the best performance and price ratio.

Out of all the participants, the cheapest I was able to find was PQI's PC2-4200, which came in at roughly $235. That's some affordable DDR2 if you ask me. But for the enthusiasts who want the best of the best, there is no other recommendation than the Centon Gemini Low Latency DDR2 PC2-4200. The memory is slightly more expensive but still cheaper than leading competitors. Last time I checked they had it on their website, but currently as I type this review, it's been pulled off. I guess they're reworking something there. My contact at Centon assures me that the memory is definitely available so there is nothing to worry about. Good job Centon, hats off to you for popping out of the dark and winning the Editor's Choice Award in this round of tests.
