At this moment and time I think I'll give the 6600GT an Editor's Choice award. The bundle alone consists of two excellent games Thief Deadly Shadows and Joint Operations that are fun and excellent buys fully worth $100 at stores like Electronics Boutique or Best Buy. At this price point, this card is worth the purchase if you're looking for a card today.

Performance of this card is stellar. For the $199 price point that the card is announced at, the 6600GT's competition at this time is ATI's X700 Pro and higher performance than the X600XT that ATI had in this price category just a few months ago. ATI announced ANOTHER $199 video card, the x800, which should offer better performance (close to 6800/X800 Pro performance), but it's not out yet. I can't recommend a card I haven't seen.

The wildcard in the 6600GT is the ability to do SLI. All NVIDIA cards of the 6600GT, the 6800GT and 6800 Ultra varieties that are SLI certified can nearly double performance in certain circumstances. This means that 2 6600GTs will perform nearly as well as a 6800GT, which costs twice as much. Buy one 6600GT today, and later buy another to get better performance. Many motherboard manufacturers that build SLI boards may include 2 6600GTs with the package. Gigabyte has announced the SDI, which is 2 6600GTs on one PCB.
