Asus X800XT PCX Video Card Review :: Game Play HL2 Doom 3
Half Life 2 was released earlier this week and is an extremely rich game with visuals among the best I've ever seen in a video game. I thought Far Cry was spectacular earlier this year, and HL2 surpasses that game in every way. The game is a lot of fun and if you haven't played it I suggest going to your local game store and purchasing it right away. This game is almost perfectly playable on the X800XT. What I mean by perfectly playable is my monitor supports up to 1280x1024 resolution. Turning up all the settings and playing the game at that setting with 6x AA and 16x AF is mostly playable throughout on my 3800+ 1 GB system on a ATI Xpress 200 reference motherboard. The game is absolutely beautiful on the X800XT card with water looking realistic as can be. The other big game that was released this year was Doom 3. Doom 3 is iD Software's latest first person shooter (fps). iD is the company that made the original Doom and Quake. In my humble opinion, while the game is a few months old by now, the game is still visually beautiful. I like the visuals in Half Life 2 more, of course. Playing Doom 3 on the eXtreme AX X800XT is an enjoyable experience. I was mostly able to play the game at 1280x1024 with 4X AA and 16X AF throughout the single player campaign. Performance was consistent throughout. Image quality in the game is wonderful on the Asus eXtreme AX 800XT especially with AA and AF turned on.
