Swiftech MCX64-V AMD Air Cooling Review

Not so long ago, AMD faced many difficult heat issues with their Socket A CPUs. As time passed, they've had a tremendous amount of support from heat sink manufacturers to help cope with their heat issue. As AMD Athlon64/Opteron CPUs near the age of 2 years, more third party heatsinks are being produced to cool these fast microprocessors. One such company is Swiftech. Swiftech is one of the leading competitors for high-end enthusiast cooling. They make a wide variety of heat sinks to cool just about any desktop processor available. When AMD introduced the Athlon64, Swiftech did not hesitate too long with their alternative to stock cooling.

With just a couple months after the release of the 64-bit processor, the MCX64-V was announced. The heatsink offered enthusiasts a better solution than the stock heat sink, and comes bundled with a quiet fan that produced noise levels lower than AMD's lowest recommended audible level while still maintaining AMD's specified thermal resistance. This means that the MCX62-V was much better than stock cooling to begin with. It provides better cooling, better noise level, and best of all, better looks.
