Scythe, a new company from Japan, started its business life in November 2002. They only have a few products out as of yet, but one of them is the Kamakaze heatsink. Note the name please. That is not kamikaze, as in the suicide planes of WWII, but Kamakaze. Translated, it means "scythe wind". Rather appropriate for both the company and the heatsink. Similar in fashion to the Swiftech MCX series, the Kamakaze uses aluminum pins mounted to a copper base that has been machine pressed into an aluminum shell. This heatsink is designed for both the AMD Socket A series and Intel Socket 370/478 series of processors. Along with an adjustable speed fan and a new design clamping mechanism, it touts itself as being a very quiet and versatile unit. Will the Kamakaze use the wind to scythe through the heat, or (if you'll pardon the pun) will it be shot down? Let's take a closer look at this new product from this up and coming company and find out. Special thanks go out to the good people at QuietPC for sending in this unit for testing and review.
