PCmark is a relative newcomer to the test field, (this being the third installment) and offers a synthetic background that tests the memory, video and other system functions in an artificial environment geared to be easy to understand and readily available for the average user to download. PC Magazines Winbench 2004 uses about the same tests that SYSmark 2004 uses only at an accelerated rate to simulate real-world test environments and is considered one of the standard test suites available.
