Okay so Intel has again taken the lead, cool right? Well I am impressed but I know like new cars there will be a faster higher speed CPU on the near event horizon. So if you really are into the best you can get, at the moment this is the mother load of CPU's for the desktop platform environment. The CPU is very fast and shows a significant power lead when comparing performance differences between the older 2.4 through 3.06GHz P4's and then the difference between the 3.2GHz and 3.0GHz P4's. Overclocking was quite substantial, and if this same strength is shown in the boxed retail CPU as well many enthusiasts will be flocking to the Intel banner to get their hands on the new 3.2GHz Pentium 4 and trying their luck at pushing the chip above spec.

The Socket 478 platform is still going very strongly and the 3.2GHz with help from both the Canterwood and Springdale chipsets will without doubt keep Intel in the top slot for the next few months or until the next generation Intel or AMD chips hit the street. The CPU also ran very cool especially considering we only used the latest retail heatsink that draws air away from the CPU for better heat dissipation. Using it and not some after market peltier or water based system which would have yielded at least 2% better results was done since most users will be using the included retail heatsink and fan combo not an after market product so these are layman's results for the common user. Intel will keep dredging forward and I am sure we will see something new somewhere, the release of a 2.4GHz Northwood? Maybe not but who knows at the current moment. Hats off once again goes to big blue as they take back the crown as the desktop dominator.
