Every new videocard that ATI has released has had AIW (All In Wonder) version as well. Usually, as in the case of the original AIW Radeon, or AIW Radeon 8500DV, the cards were slower clocked , had less memory , or were otherwise differentiated from the regular new card of the time . With the release of the AIW Radeon 9700 Pro, however, ATI released the card with all of the features, memory, and performance of it's non AIW cousin , the Radeon 9700 Pro.

ATI announced the Radeon 9700 in July of this year. Since that time, numerous reviews have covered the performance including Doc Overclock's look at the 9700 back in September by clicking here. In it you'll find a overview of the new features of the 9700 Pro, the technology behind ATI's latest card and performance using the first set of drivers that supported the 9700 Pro, the Catalyst 02.2s with inf files for 9700.

Since the 9700 Pro has been released , however, ATI has regularly updated their drivers. At the moment, the 9700 drivers are up to version 6218 with Catalyst 02.5 which were released on Monday. Unfortunately, I haven't had time to run the benchmarks with the new drivers and will do so in a subsequent article, after my system is upgraded.
