Notebook: ECS I-Buddie XP Review :: Performance

Stability

The I-Buddie XP worked perfectly with all tests other than SYSmark 2001, which had to be restarted a number of times before finally completing the test run. All torture and stability tests ran fine for a 24 hour period with no lock ups or blue screens to speak of.

Performance

For these series of tests I had to alter my normal testing foundation as the I-Buddie specs vary from our pre-defined configuration of parts used in our other reviews. For a comparison system I used the Compaq Presario 900 which features the same CPU speed and memory but uses an ATI mobile chipset VGA solution that does outperform the SiS but by only by a minor amount.

Performance overall was adequate and within the expected range for the systems configuration. What I mean by this is a standard desktop system sporting these same chipsets and CPU/Memory power performs very closely to the XP I-Buddie. The video and DVD performance was excellent for what is under the hood and the unit played movies and games with solid visual clarity.
