I have read nearly all the articles about Matrox over the years. Nobody has mentioned its superb Video to TV Output. I not sure if they are aware of it. I have been using it for years. With other video cards, you have to clone the desktop view to the TV and then play the Video. This slows down the system. If you want to watch some video you downloaded, you have to switch back and forth all the time. Starting from the G400, you can just play and watch the video on TV.
When you turn on the DVDMax option, it just sends the overlay signal to TV. It doesn't send anything to TV until you play a Video clip. Some will say why bother? Table top DVD players are dirt cheap and easier to use. How about DIVX or MPEG-4? They have became the MP3 of video. There are lots of P2P sources out there. The computer TIVO is another thing you may consider. You may like to record or create something on the computer and send it to VCR or TV with good quality. Matrox is the best card you can get. There are lots of quality and display configuration options. The adapter cable includes S and RCA outputs to send the signal to TV.
