Portable: ECS i-buddie 4 Review :: Installation

The I-Buddie comes with all the Operating Software preinstalled at the factory so there is not really any setup that needs to be done other than your personal preferences within Windows XP. The system came ready to go right out of the box.

The thing that was a real wig flipper however is the fact that the I-Buddie uses standard DDR SDRAM not Sodimm modules which not only saves money it makes the system entirely more flexible than a standard laptop unit.

Not only that it gets better as you also can use any of the off the shelf P4 processors and do not have to find a mobile style chip when you want to upgrade. The price difference between a standard and mobile processor is staggering.

The Hard Drive is also very easily removed and replaced and only requires the removal of a few Phillips headed screws to make it accessible. The Hard drives is not the standard type but the smaller laptop kind. This is overall one of the easiest to work with portable systems that I have ever encountered and using standard desktop replacement parts makes it even better.
