- 1050 MHz core clock
- 1250 MHz memory clock
- Proprietary cooling solution
These are the main features that Sapphire has tweaked over the reference design. One thing that we found particularly impressive is that this new thermal solution not only runs completely silent, but it also is able to keep temperatures under 60 degrees Celsius at full load. This is extremely impressive when you take into account how powerful this card is. This should also help to improve overclocking performance as well since temperatures are usually the main reason that cards fail during overclocking.
This thermal solution uses a basic plastic shroud, two large fans and a large heat sink with large copper heat pipes. These large fans are the main reason the card is able to stay silent and the large heat sink provides ample surface area to dissipate the heat that's generated when the card is being stressed. This is an incredibly effective solution that also looks pretty good as well. There are many manufacturers out there that try to provide a better cooling solution than the reference design and this is definitely one of the better ones. Sapphire uses their TRIXX software to manage and overclock the card and with cooling that works this well there is plenty of headroom for ovetrclocking the card even more.
