Fractal Designs’ Node 605 HTPC Case Review

Wed, 2013-01-23 17:30 -- Jim Kumorek

My only complaint is the review unit I received came with no documentation, which according to the website was supposed to be present. Fractal Designs was kind enough to send me a PDF of the manual. A separate product sheet available on the website provides details on size restrictions of components.

You do pay a premium for the construction quality and looks. At $159 (street price) for a case with no power supply included, it’s not for the budget-focused.

With its sleek looks, it would fit in very well with high-end home theater installations, which are often rack-mounted. While it would certainly fit on a rack-mount shelf, it would be nice if there were a rack-mount “ears” option.

In the right situations, I’d also definitely consider building an office PC as well out of this case for the media card access and elegance of style. I’m very impressed with the construction quality, and next time I’m in the market for a case, I’ll be looking at Fractal Design’s offerings closely.
