Razer Orbweaver Puts Gaming Power into Your Palm
Forget your game face. Let’s talk about your game hand. If you’re still gaming with limited controls, Razer wants to put more power into your palm. That’s why the company just announced the Razer Orbweaver.
The Razer Orbweaver is a mechanical gaming keypad. It’s also completely awesome, because it’s customizable, so you can put an infinite number of controls into the device’s 20 mechanical keys and the programmable eight-way directional thumb-pad.
Hot on the heels of the insanely popular Razer Nostromo, the Orbweaver only needs a mere 50g of force to trigger each key. That means that you can fire off commands about as fast as your fingers can move—and hopefully faster than your gaming foes.
Most likely, that increased functionality will result in more gameplay. Don’t worry about any gaming-related injuries, though. The Razer Orbweaver is designed for extended use, with adjustable rest modules for the thumb, palm and wrist. Each of those sections can also be tweaked to fit any hand, so you should be able to accommodate your dainty digits.
Other features include a backlit keypad for nighttime gaming, the option for unlimited macro lengths and unlimited gaming profiles, and support for Razer Synapse 2.0.
“The Razer Orbweaver is the ultimate gauntlet of game control,” said Min-Liang Tan, CEO of Razer. “The feeling of having every command at hand to destroy the competition in so many different ways is just sublime, and the tactile feedback and fast key actuation from the mechanical key architecture gives you a feeling of satisfaction and an added edge in the games you play.”
The Razer Orbweaver is currently available for pre-order, with an MSRP of $129.99. The company expects to start shipping the product sometime in the first quarter of 2013.
