Until now, nearly all performance SSDs have been powered by the SandForce 2100 SSD controller, but the Vertex 4 is OCZ's first drive to market powered by technology from their Indilinx acquisition. The result is positive, netting a drive that's competitive with SandForce based drives... even besting it in several benchmarks.
After seeing what the Indilinx team can do with a Marvell controller and custom firmware, I'm really excited to see what they can do with their own silicon.
