Some people absolutely hate Microsoft's ribbon menus so much that they would rather shoot bunnies in the face than deal with a horizontal menu instead of a vertical one. Personally, I don't despise the ribbon. As an Office user I've gotten used to it over the last several years, but I do remember initially disliking it when I made the jump from Office 2003 to 2007.
Like it or not, Microsoft's ribbon has taken over Windows Explorer. It certainly feels more "Metro", but those who aren't used to it will find themselves trying to figure out exactly how it's "better" than it was... then ultimately give up and start punching stuff until the world makes sense again.
