Power protection and conditioning systems are a little like fire insurance policies: They may not be the most exciting purchase you’ll ever make but you’ll be glad you made it if something goes wrong. In this year’s first-ever UPS and power conditioning contest, Schneider Electric SA, maker of the APC line of power products, won gold honors comfortably. Trailing after with respectable second- and third-place finishes were CyberPower Systems Inc. and Eaton Corp.
