Mac's

Postby Black Wolf » Tue Apr 18, 2006 4:52 am

So with the New Intel Macs out, and Windows now being used on Macs with help of Boot Camp, should a Mac Section be opened?

I know myself and atleast Myth's Husband use Macs for Folding.

And I know now PC games can be played with no problems on Macs with Boot Camp.

Just a Thought.

I sincerely hope that this becomes a reality. I, too, use a Mac (soon to be more) for folding as well as every-day use and business use. I would love to have something available on here forum-wise dedicated to those of us who use Macs. While these types of forums do exist (I am a member of about 5 right now), it would be nice to be able to post within this forum for both PC and Mac-related topics.

hehe Hey a Mac with an Intel processor? should be called an Intellimac

I find my Mac mini using a dual core 1.66 is faster running apps then my P4 3.4 was.

But seriously with the intel macs and the ability to install windows on them and more and more people are going to be coming to the forums looking for help.

I think having a mac section will draw more people to the forums. If we do indeed want more traffic??

I tend to agree with Black Wolf very strongly. I have switched about 50% of my machines over to Macs and continue to add more. Of the Mac groups that I am a member of, none of them are nearly as helpful as the people on this site and I think that it would benefit both the Forums and us, as users, to have a Macintosh/Apple-based section.

What do you think, Mods?

Thanks,
Jason

Gotta ask the big guy, I don't think it would be a bad idea myself.

I think we can get one made. Problem will be if there's little to no participation. That's what's killed a few other forums around here.

I don't want to step on any toes here, but the "Games Review" forums is kind of weak. Its pretty much a glorified portal to Gamepyre.com, and we have kept that around for a while. I think it would do better has one of the main red tabs at the top of that page.

As for the mac I am same with skyWlf77, I sold all my PC's except for me gamer. and now have a Mac mini and a Macbook. Both run OSx and Windows (xp and 98).

I think there would be enough participation. Of course like all forums it will be slow in the begning.

I'm still running several PC's (one for gaming and the others for Folding@Home and one laptop), but am working on making the rest of the transition. One of the limiting factors is the lack of support on Forums like this one. As helpful as everyone is around here, I would think that a Mac support forum would do quite well. Yes, it may be slow going in the beginning, but I think it would pick up rather quickly.

I actually have recently bought a Lenovo Core Duo laptop that I have been attempting to trade off for a Mac laptop or sell simply because I would rather have a Mac. I have two older Mac laptops, but they just aren't quite up to speed and are being sold off as well to help fund the hunt for a better Mac laptop.

A Mac section might very well help bring new people into this forum as well which would be good for everyone.

Thanks,
Jason

We'll ask and see. If it doesn't run it doesn't survive...
