Here is some reference material for determining the power connections for a SATA hdd, and for its data cable.
If the PSU has the included SATA power connector, it will include the +3.3, +5 and +12 volts plus black leads.. five total. With the adapters that connect to the SATA power plug and mate to a standard Molex lead, there are only four wires.. missing the +3.3 source. There should be a tiny VR inside the SATA power connector housing to provide the +3.3 volts needed..
