We're gathering them all up in one place so that they can be deleted. We're also putting in place an option that will hopefully stop these from coming in.

Did'nt feel it was that big of a problem until I just did a memberlist search. Went from the newest member working backwards.
We've got about 30 of 'em just in the last 24 hours all with the same sites style listed. Pretty discusting people can clog up our member list with their trash.

I had a feeling. Most likely being sent out via 'zombie' computers loaded up with garbage like the "spam mailing zombies".
Sad part is? Even sites that use the "type in hidden word in the box below" (and the word is hidden behind shapes and objects...so only a real set of eyes could see what it really is) Even those places are still getting bogged down.

hmmm, I beg to differ, at least on the issue of bots signing up with porn/etc links in the profile....
The Visual Confirmation feature on phpBB cuts out a LOT of these bots. It does not keep ot spam bot (email havesters, etc.). But it does keep out the type of bots that we are currently working to combat here...

Then I "sit" corrected
email havesters.....ghesss I have a lothing hate for people that use 'em. If I wanted to subscribe or purchase your product I'd jolly well do it on my own. My spam filters nip up about 50 spams a day and move 'em right into the trash folder. Even my company's email account is on a 'zombie' computer somewhere. About twice a day? Some lame email from xspam connection. LOL...at least it makes it very easy to bin.

I don't quite understand what it's supposed to achieve. I mean, none of them have posted, so who is going to see them to click on the website? I agree it's a pain - but it seems so pointless.
