Just finished reading your review of the Gigabyte 3D Cooler. Very well written and informative. Just one question though. Are those specs for the
Intel 530J Chip running @ stock speed correct? It seems odd that the chip would run cooler with the fan speed set to low than it does with the speed cranked up. Just curious......enjoyed the article.

Indeed it is strange, but that phenomenon was only exhibited when the heat load hit a critical peak. I'm working under the theory that thanks to the higher fan speeds, you're now moving more hot air over the fins (the sink takes the air in through those fins and expels essentially hot air through others). I suppose that with less airflow the exposed heatpipes are being heated less by the discharge. On the whole though, not sure why it did that.
