It's always great to donate blood no matter what the reason. Doing so will benift the area one lives in greatly. If you are from down south? Then it will be an added perk! (Blood does'ent last long in storage...so a constant supply is needed from vol.'s and they normally won't transport it long distances)
Not trying to poopoo the efforts....All cities and communities benifit greatly from the donations!!!
Right now? The Red Cross is asking for as much $$$$$ as can be found. Once in the disaster area, they can figure out what's needed and do local purchases and work with other groups in the area (Sal. Army)

well they were taking the blood down to the south so i guess it can last long enough to go down there

There is a group of people organizing right now who's only mission is to prevent anybody from rebuilding in New Orleans. This is the group to give money to. Federal money should not go to rebuilding slums below sea level. This is insane, period.

this isnt giving money to rebuild the city this is for relief
i dont want them to rebuild it either but i still think that the people who are there deserve food and water and other essentials
