anybody else really liking this case?
It seems like a hate it or love it kinda thing to me, but I think it's really kinda nice looking. Good write up. One thing I am curious about is how the front semi-door things work. Do they lock into place? Are they spring loaded? _________________ "He o hitte shiri tsubome" - (There is no use scrunching up your buttocks after a fart)

Great review. After reading it, I have a few questions.
First, is the motherboard tray removable? NO
Second, are the drive bays hidden under face plates? In other words, would I notice if I put a white DVD burner in one of the bays? NO EACH BAY HAS A REMOVABLE FACE PATE
.
Sorry if the answers were actually in the review and I didn't find them.

The Armor can use any type of motherboard as it supports the entire form factor series currently available. These include the Micro ATX, ATX, Extended ATX and of course the new BTX standard. The units total overall size is 530 x 220 x 560 mm (H*W*D) and empty it has a weight of 7.5Kg, which is very light indeed. The motherboard tray is not removable like many people seem to like, but the openness of the chassis interior leaves plenty of room for installing and removing your motherboard anyways so it should not ever become a problem. The case also comes in black for those who want something different from the plain-brushed aluminum look. _________________ Doc Overclock - Adventures In Electricity |

Interesting, I did a little looking into this, because I really like the look of the black one. It seems the black only comes in steel, making it much heavier than the silver _________________ "He o hitte shiri tsubome" - (There is no use scrunching up your buttocks after a fart)

Would this case be able to accomodate a 3 x 120mm radiator in the front drive bay area?
I'm looking at this case for just that purpose and I'm interested in putting something like a Thermochill 120.3 in there.
It's size is 419x126x50mm (HxWxD). |

i actually bought one of these and am kicking myself, because in the week since i have discovered that antec came out with two much much beter cases: p180 and new sonata, both of which support prescott cpus and have atx v2; and because i found thermaltake has NO tech support.
go to thermaltake tech pages. the armor does not exist. there are no manuals and the case is not even listed in the 155 docs there.
email them.....hahah they never respond
also, thanks for the 'review' but dude really it is just a precis of the ads. i want a hands on test that will tell me how loud it is, what works and does not. i am no expert but i see on several sites that your comment that alu cases are better for cooling is a 'myth'.
also, far from a weak point that no psu is included, i bought this case BECAUSE i want to choose my own psu, an antec phantom 500
what you would have discovered if you actually got your hands inside is that the floppy cage CANNOT be dismounted and moved, as the manual says it can. for some reason it is actually screwed in, at least on the case i got.
i emailed thermaltake about this curious fact. no answer. and you won't find a phone number in the manual either. they don't want to know. |
