I have a mothrboard SR-M508 (i430vx-2a59gsjhc-00) and I change my hard-disk (1GB) with a new one (10GB). My BIOS reports that I have a 10 GB hard-disk, but fdisk can use only 8GB. So, I need a new BIOS for my motherboard (after 06/04/97).
Please help me to solve this problem because I can't find this BIOS anywhere. |

If the bios can see the full 10Gb and Fdisk can't maybe it's a new version of Fdisk that you need and not a new bios?
Are you using Win95 or Win98?
The only bios I could find is dated the same as your current one.

I think I can arrange a patched one that supports up to 128GB harddisks. fdisk is indeed the problem, not the bios. It has the INT13 extensions, so support for disks up to 32GB (unpatched).

This could also be a limitation of the version of FDISK being used. Try updating to a Windows ME version. You can download a boot disk here:
http://www.mirrors.org/archived_software/www.bootdisk.com/original.htm
More then likely its a bios issue, but you never know.
